What is the PTO?

The Union Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) strives to promote and enhance quality education programs for Union’s students. Our primary objective is to provide our school with resources and services that will enrich and maximize the education of every child as well as provide communication to parents of activities throughout the school year.

Who can Become a Member?

All teachers, parents and legal guardians of children attending Union are encouraged to join the PTO. Becoming a member does not mean you automatically sign up to volunteer, it just means you support our group and believe in what we’re doing for the education of your child. At the beginning of the school year we have an annual membership drive to obtain funds to support our mission. Dues are $30.00 per family. Click here to become a member!

PTO Programs & Fundraising

Unfortunately, many basic necessities are no longer covered by the school system’s budget. Fundraising is not our favorite responsibility, but it is a necessary one. Our 2 major fundraisers are Penny Wars in the Fall and Lights, Camera, Auction. In addition, the PTO sponsors a variety of FUN EVENTS throughout the year where you have an opportunity to meet teachers, students and other parents, including the Fall Festival, Thanksgiving Luncheon, PTO Parent Volunteer Meetings, Dances, House Parties, and Reward Day. We also partner with local businesses for Spirit Nights and other events to maximize the local resources available to Union.

Becoming a Volunteer… Why YOU should get involved!

As you can see, we are a busy group. This is where you come in! We need your help, and so do your children. Studies show that when parents get involved grades go up, test scores improve, children are more likely to attend better schools after high school, they have fewer discipline problems and they’re less likely to use drugs and alcohol.

When you become a PTO member, volunteer opportunities will be available to you, plus we keep you informed about what is going on at Union. We will share information about school events via email, text messages, newsletters, etc. Be sure to add unionstempto@gmail.com to your contacts to receive our communications.
